In 2011, Haiti Bible Mission had the great opportunity to plant it's first church in Te' Wouj, a village in western Haiti near Jeremie. In 2012, we're looking to plant our second church in a zone called Kolimo. Kolimo is a unique place. Perched 680 feet on the side of a mountain, it's an hour's walk to any local church or school. Haiti Bible Mission recently had the chance to acquire the land and hire the pastor that will shephard this zone. Pastor Honore Gelem truly wants to see his community come to know Christ and the videos below will reflect his heart. Pastor Gelem will also have on going leadership training through HBM's pastoral school.
How can you be apart of this? As you can see in the videos below, the church in Kolimo currently meets under sticks and poles. HBM would like to construct a church where this make-shift church stands now. We're inviting churches to partner with HBM to cover the costs to build this new facility. It will cost approximately $17,000 to build this facility on the side of the mountain. Because Kolimo is only accessible by a 30-minute walk , much of the cost will be attributed to hauling the tools and supplies up the mountain.
Renew Communities in Cleveland, Ohio was the first church to step up and commit over $6000 to this initiative. You can read about their journey to raise the funds over Christmas here on their news blog.
